Main Research Fields

My lab focuses on cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET) and its applications in in situ structural biology. We aim at solving sub-nanometer resolution structure of proteins from their functional states in native contexts. We are active in developing cryo-ET methods, including: 1) cryo-ET and high resolution subtomogram averaging, 2) Focused-ion beam milling of samples (FIB-SEM), and 3) Correlative light and electron microscopy (CLEM) in cryo conditions. These methods are primarily applied on studying 1) native structures of protein, 2) ultrastructure of macro-complexes, including interactions between protein, nuclear acids, membrane and 4) enveloped virus-host cell interactions.
